Google Business Profile 0/7

Unverified profiles cannot be edited or ranked properly. Verify by video, phone or postcard.
The primary category is the strongest relevance signal. Use the category that matches your main revenue service.
Secondaries widen the searches you can appear for without diluting the primary.
Every empty field is a keyword Google cannot read. Aim for 100% completeness.
Trucks, team, storefront, before and after. Profiles with fresh photos get more calls.
Offers, completed jobs, seasonal reminders. Posts carry keywords and signal an active business.
Ask and answer them yourself. It stops customers from asking things you do not want public.

Reviews 0/4

Most reviews come from a request sent within hours of the job. Use your short review link.
Replies are public and count as activity. Thank the good ones, calmly fix the bad ones.
Reviews that say "roof replacement in Naperville" reinforce relevance.
Real reviews on the site build trust and can earn stars in search results.

Website and NAP 0/7

Match your Google profile letter for letter. This anchors every citation.
Most local searches are on phones. If the number does not dial, you lose the call.
Google ranks pages, not sites. Each service needs its own URL, title and H1.
Location pages are how you rank in towns you are not physically in.
Schema tells Google exactly who you are, where and what you do. Test it in the Rich Results Test.
Google indexes the mobile version. Compress images and remove bloat.
Connects the site and the profile and helps customers find you.

Citations and links 0/4

The core listings every business needs, with identical NAP.
Industry directories carry the most relevance. Use the Local Citation Finder.
Search your phone number and old names. Merge or remove duplicates.
Local links confirm you are part of the community and move organic rankings.

Content and tracking 0/2

Answer the questions your customers ask, with your town in the title. This feeds AI search too.
Google Business Profile insights, Search Console and call tracking. If you cannot measure it, you cannot fix it.

Why a checklist works

Local SEO is not complicated, it is just a lot of small things done consistently. A checklist turns "I should do SEO" into "claim the profile, add the category, upload 10 photos". Do the items in order inside each group and you will have covered what 90% of your competitors have not.

Why it matters is one click away

Every task has a short explanation of why it moves rankings and how to do it. If you already know, ignore it. If you do not, it is right there.

Local SEO Checklist Tool: FAQ

How long does the whole list take?
A focused owner can do the Google Business Profile and reviews groups in a weekend. Website and content items take longer, and citations are an ongoing job.
Is the order important?
Inside each group, yes. Across groups, start with Google Business Profile, then reviews, then the website.
Will my progress sync between devices?
No. It is saved in the browser you used. Print the list if you want a copy.
